[ The short version ]

What is local SEO, and what does a local SEO agency in Dubai actually do?

Local SEO is the work of appearing in the map results Google shows when someone searches for a business near them — the three listings above the website results, usually called the map pack or 3-pack. It runs on a different algorithm from organic search, weighted toward how close the searcher is, how complete and active your Google Business Profile is, and how many recent reviews you hold. Arab SEO is a local SEO company in Dubai that has run this for 520+ UAE brands since 2016, from a desk at Sheikh Rashid Tower.

One naming note, because it confuses almost every brief we receive: GMB optimisation and Google Business Profile optimisation are the same thing. Google renamed Google My Business to Google Business Profile in 2021; the tool, the listing and the work did not change. Agencies still sell it under both names, and you should not pay twice for one service because a proposal split them into separate line items.

What separates local SEO services in Dubai from a generic playbook is the mix of languages and districts. A Deira trader and a DIFC firm compete in different contests with different competitor sets, and a third of the demand arrives in Arabic or in Hindi, Urdu and Tagalog — languages most listings here never target. Where the map pack is not the whole problem, a 250-point audit tells you which half of the leak is organic.

[ The three-listing economy ]

On a phone, Google answers before your website loads.

Search “dentist near me”, “car garage Al Quoz” or its Arabic equivalent on google.ae and the same thing happens: a map, three businesses, their ratings, a Call button and a Directions button. No title tags. No meta descriptions. No page-one scrap between ten blue links.

That triple listing is the map pack, and it runs on its own engine — proximity to the searcher, the strength of your Google Business Profile, your review velocity and your citation footprint. Ranking first in organic while sitting fourth in the pack means losing the customer who never scrolls. We have watched it happen for eight years, and we built this desk to stop it.

Six desks run at once, or none of them count.

Local search punishes half-measures. A perfect Business Profile with stale citations stalls; flawless citations with three reviews a year stall too. These six workstreams open together on day one and stay open — every one of them gets its own section below.

[ The profile teardown ]

Your Business Profile is the landing page.

For most local searches the profile is where the decision happens — so we audit it the way others audit websites: element by element, against the three profiles beating yours in your district. Four of the fixes come up on nearly every Dubai account we inherit.

  1. 1

    Categories & services

One primary category aimed at the query that pays, Arabic secondaries behind it, every service priced. Category stuffing is the most common suspension trigger we repair.

  2. 2

    Photos that prove presence

Geo-real shots of your team, premises and finished jobs, refreshed weekly. Stock imagery reads instantly to customers and gives Google nothing fresh to index.

  3. 3

    Questions, answered in advance

The Q&A section seeded with what buyers actually ask — parking, payment, hours, insurance. Left empty, competitors and random users write it for you.

  4. 4

    Hours that survive Ramadan

Special hours for Ramadan, Eid and UAE holidays set every year. “Open” claims that end in a locked door burn reviews faster than any ranking gain earns them.

[ Ground truth ]

We rank districts we actually work in.

Arab SEO has operated from Sheikh Rashid Tower, DWTC, since 2016. Our strategists sit eight minutes from Business Bay and fifteen from Deira — and the difference between those two markets is not a paragraph in a template. It is reviewer language, price expectation, prayer-time footfall and which competitors Google clusters you against.

That proximity is why our local work starts with field notes, not software exports. Where a district’s customers search in Arabic, where they compare on price, where parking decides the click — we have watched it across 520+ UAE brands and folded it into every engagement.

[ Proximity ]

“We got you to number one” is half a sentence.

Organic rankings are roughly the same for everyone in a city. Map-pack rankings are not. Position is calculated partly from how far the searcher is from your front door, so one business holds several positions at once for the same query — first from across the street, eighth from the other side of Sheikh Zayed Road.

This is why a screenshot showing position one proves very little. It was taken somewhere, and the somewhere is the part that got cropped. Any agency can find a point on the map where you already rank first — usually your own office — and photograph it every month.

So we report the grid instead: the same search sampled from a lattice of points across your catchment, which turns one flattering number into a coverage map. The job of local SEO is not to move a single position. It is to widen the gold area until it covers the districts your customers actually call from.

The question to ask any local SEO agency in Dubai — including us — is simply: “ranked first from where?” If the answer is a single number with no location attached, the report is a photograph, not a measurement.

Centre is your pin. Same query, same day, same business — position 1 to 14 depending only on where the phone was.

  • Top 3 — in the pack
  • 4–7 — one tap away
  • 8+ — effectively invisible
[ One city, five search languages ]

“Near me” is said five different ways here.

Roughly a third of our local retainers run Arabic-first, because Gulf-dialect near-me queries carry some of the weakest competition in Dubai search — most competitors translate clumsily or ignore the demand entirely. Karama and Deira add serious Hindi and Urdu volume; Marina and JBR add Tagalog.

The work is unglamorous and precise: Arabic secondary categories on your profile, area pages drafted by native writers, review responses in the reviewer’s language. Not every business needs all five — we map the ones with real demand behind your categories before writing a word.

Stars decide the tap before price does.

Between two profiles in the pack, the one with 4.8 and recent reviews wins the call even at a higher price. Reviews are a system — cadence, recency, response discipline — not a luck deposit. Here is the system we install.

  1. Ask at the peak

A table tent, a job-sticker, a WhatsApp follow-up — the QR lands while the job is still fresh. Bilingual cards, English on one side and Arabic on the other.

  2. Answer within a day

Every review gets a response inside 24 hours, in the reviewer’s language, in your voice. Silence reads as neglect to every future customer scrolling your profile.

  3. Earned, never bought

We do not incentivize, import or fabricate reviews — Google removes them and profiles get demoted for it. Velocity targets, honest methods, compounding trust.

[ Citations & NAP ]

One wrong suite number quietly costs you the pack.

Proximity is fixed — your address is what it is. What moves the needle is consistency: Google cross-examines every mention of your name, address and phone across the web, and every contradiction erodes the confidence it needs to show you for “near me”.

On inherited accounts we routinely find unit numbers written three ways, a marketing number that replaced the tracked line, and duplicate profiles splitting one brand’s authority in half. The ledger on the right is the cleanup, made visible.

Pages that earn their district, not doorway filler.

A service page per district is how you enter contests the homepage cannot. But Google has seen every lazy version — ten pages where only the suburb name changed. Ours are built the slow way, two a month, each with proof only your business can supply.

  • District in the H1 — naturally

“Emergency Plumber in Al Barsha” reads to buyers first, crawlers second.

  • Proof strip from real jobs

Photos, job counts, named suburbs served. The section competitors cannot copy.

  • District FAQ

Parking, building-access quirks, response times. Genuine local texture Google rewards.

  • One clear action

Call, WhatsApp or book — the same conversion path as the profile above it.

Our doorway-page rule: if a page could sit on a competitor’s site without changing a word, it is filler — and filler gets filtered, not ranked. We would rather ship nine pages that rank than thirty that do not.

[ Straight answers ]

Questions Dubai owners actually ask.

01How long does it take to move up the map pack in Dubai?

Foundations land first: a rebuilt Google Business Profile and cleaned citations usually show movement within three to four weeks. Competitive districts — Downtown, Marina, Jumeirah — typically need six to twelve weeks of review velocity and area-page work before positions settle. Nobody can promise a date or a position, and we won’t pretend otherwise.

02What do I get in the free local audit?

A strategist pulls your live map-pack positions for your five most valuable searches, audits your Business Profile against the top three competitors in your district, checks citation consistency, and grades your review velocity. You receive a prioritised fix list — usually twelve to twenty items — whether or not you hire us.

03We have several branches. Do you handle multi-location?

That is our Growth and Franchise tier. Each branch gets its own Business Profile playbook, its own area pages and its own review cadence, rolled into one dashboard. We have run brands across six emirates and into Saudi Arabia, and we structure reporting so head office and branch managers each see what they need.

04Google suspended our Business Profile. Can you recover it?

Usually, yes. Most suspensions we see come from category stuffing, keyword-padded business names or a mismatched address. We file the reinstatement request, fix the underlying policy breach first, and prepare video verification if Google asks. Reinstatements take anywhere from three days to six weeks — the policy breach has to be genuinely fixed or it recurs.

05Do you write the area pages, or do we supply the content?

We write them, but we interview you first. A page that ranks mentions things only you know — the sites you have actually served, your team, your parking situation, photos from real jobs. We draft in English and Arabic, you correct the facts, and nothing publishes without your sign-off.

06Can you run local search in Arabic as well as English?

Yes — roughly a third of our local retainers are Arabic-first. We add Arabic secondary categories to your Business Profile, build Arabic area pages, and target Gulf-dialect near-me phrasing rather than literal translations. Your reviews get bilingual responses, which Gulf customers notice.

07Do you lock clients into long contracts?

No. Local retainers run month to month after a 90-day foundation window, because that is the honest minimum for citations, Business Profile rebuilds and the first area pages to compound. After that, 92% of clients stay — but staying is a choice, not a clause.

08We already rank first organically. Why bother with the map pack?

Because they are different auctions. The 3-pack sits above organic results on phones, runs on a separate algorithm weighted toward proximity, profile strength and reviews, and answers queries your organic page never sees. Some of our strongest clients hold position one organic and position one map pack at the same time — two doors, same customer.

09Is GMB optimization the same as Google Business Profile optimization?

Yes, identical. Google renamed Google My Business to Google Business Profile in 2021 — the listing, the dashboard and the work are the same, only the label changed. Many agencies still sell it under both names, and some proposals list them as two line items. They are one service: categories, services and attributes, photos, products, posts, Q&A, messaging and the review flow that feeds it all.

10How much do local SEO packages in Dubai cost?

Three monthly retainers in dirhams: AED 3,200 for a single location, AED 5,800 for two to five with Arabic content and call tracking, and AED 9,500 for six or more with per-branch playbooks and quarterly on-site days. VAT is excluded. There is a 90-day foundation window because citations, a profile rebuild and the first area pages need that long to compound; after it, everything runs month to month.

11How do I choose the best local SEO agency in Dubai?

Ask three questions. First: “ranked first from where?” — map-pack position changes with the searcher’s location, so a single number with no location attached is a photograph, not a measurement. Second: who owns the Google Business Profile, you or them? Third: can they show you the last month of profile changes with dates? An agency reporting monthly but touching the profile quarterly is selling reports. Certifications and awards are a floor, not a differentiator.

12Why does our map ranking change depending on where I search from?

Because proximity is a ranking factor in the map pack and not in organic search. Google calculates the 3-pack partly from the distance between the searcher and your address, so the same business genuinely holds several positions at once for one query — first from across the road, tenth from three kilometres away. That is why we report a grid of sampled points across your catchment rather than one position, and why widening coverage matters more than moving a single number.
