Maison Layali: 3.8× non-brand organic revenue
A Gold & Diamond Park jeweller whose 480 thin product pages became a Shopify Plus store with full schema — organic revenue grew from AED 218,000 to AED 828,000 a month across Eid, Diwali and wedding-season peaks. Data runs through 31 July 2026, sourced from GA4 and Google Search Console, reported exactly as our internal QBR deck reads it.

01 · The starting point
A Gold & Diamond Park showroom the internet couldn’t find
Maison Layali’s showroom in Gold & Diamond Park needs no introduction among Dubai’s bridal trade; in March 2023 its website did. Organic search brought 4,120 sessions and AED 218,000 of revenue a month — 12% of online revenue — and 69% of organic clicks were brand queries from people who already knew the showroom. Every Eid spike, every Diwali rush and the December–February wedding run went to marketplaces and aggregators while the brand’s own product pages watched.
The catalogue was the problem. 480 SKUs, 91% of them carrying manufacturer feed copy duplicated verbatim across at least three marketplaces — meaning Google saw the same product text three times before it ever saw the brand’s version. No Product, Offer or Review schema anywhere; category templates took 5.9 seconds to render on mobile; the Arabic side was machine-translated with no hreflang and ranked behind marketplace listings for the brand’s own products.
We made two calls in the first quarter. First, rebuild the catalogue copy and category architecture on the legacy platform while it still paid the bills. Second, plan the replatform to Shopify Plus properly — redirect map, schema parity, a cutover date in the post-season trough — because a jewelry store does not get to do a messy migration twice.
Day-one audit findings
- 480 SKUs live; 91% carried manufacturer feed copy duplicated verbatim across at least three marketplace listings
- Zero Product, Offer or Review schema sitewide — the Merchant Center feed was the only structured data the brand had
- 4,120 organic sessions/month, AED 218,000 organic revenue; brand queries carried 69% of organic clicks
- LCP 5.9s on category templates on the legacy platform; average product image 2.1 MB
- Arabic categories machine-translated, no hreflang; “خواتم ذهب دبي” (3,600/mo) at #33 behind marketplace listings
02 · What we actually did
Five phases, in the order they happened
Months 1–4 · Mar–Jun 2023
Audit and the SKU copy factory
- Full commerce audit: 480 SKUs, 91% on manufacturer feed copy; 46 overlapping category URLs consolidated into a clean collection tree (Screaming Frog, Mar 2023)
- 120 hero SKUs rewritten in-house — stone specs, settings, certification, styling notes; Product, Offer and Review schema shipped on the pilot templates
- GA4 + Search Console + Looker Studio: organic revenue became the primary reported metric, sessions secondary
- Brand vs non-brand click split instrumented — the 31% baseline on the KPI card comes from this
Months 5–10 · Jul–Dec 2023
Category architecture and Arabic v1
- Collection architecture rebuilt: 46 categories and 19 gifting-intent sub-collections; faceted-nav crawl traps blocked, canonical discipline set
- Arabic v1 launched machine-assisted — a mistake we own: translated English copy sat at #30+ for four months (see honest notes)
- Bridal guide cluster shipped for the Dec–Feb wedding run; internal linking rebuilt around gifting occasions, not metal types
Months 11–16 · Jan–Jun 2024
Gifting calendar and migration planning
- Gifting calendar built backwards from Eid: landing pages, on-site merchandising, email-SEO pairing — the Apr 2024 Eid spike on the trajectory is the first one captured properly
- Hindi gifting pages v1 for the wedding season — the EN/AR/HI service line started here
- Shopify Plus migration scoped by Omar K.: 1,900-URL redirect map, schema-parity specification, staging crawl plan, cutover date chosen for the post-season trough
- Google Merchant Center hygiene: GTINs corrected, custom labels for margin tiers feeding Shopping bids
Months 17–22 · Jul–Dec 2024
The replatform, owned
- Oct 2024 cutover: −18% organic sessions for five weeks — the redirect map and schema parity recovered the rest within a quarter, as the staging crawl predicted (see trajectory)
- Arabic rebuilt natively by Noor S. around Gulf gifting vocabulary — Eid-first structure, AED-first copy; the stalled categories recovered from #30+ to the top 6
- Core Web Vitals on the new templates: LCP 2.1s mobile on category pages, average image weight halved
- Diwali + wedding season ran entirely on the new platform — the Nov 2024 spike is visible on the trajectory
Months 23+ · Jan 2025 — ongoing
Compound: gifting hubs, Shopping, AI answers
- Arabic gifting hub waves 2 and 3; Hindi gifting expanded beyond wedding content into occasion-led collections
- Marketplace support: Amazon.ae brand-store listings rewritten so they stop cannibalising the site’s own product pages; Shopping custom labels tied to margin tiers
- AI Overview tracking for “engagement rings dubai” added to a fixed query panel, reported monthly
- Lab-grown diamond cluster scoped for US/EU shipping pages (current focus)

What the client banked
Organic sessions grew from 4,120 to 15,700 a month (Mar 2023 → Jul 2026) and non-brand clicks went from 31% to 72% of the organic total — the site no longer ranks mainly for its own name. Organic revenue followed: AED 218,000 → AED 828,000 a month, and organic’s share of online revenue from 12% to 34%.
The quiet detail we like most: revenue per session barely moved — about AED 53 at both ends of the chart. Every dirham of growth came from qualified non-brand traffic finding the brand, not from conversion tricks. “diamond bracelet dubai” holds position 2 (best 1), “bridal jewelry set online” position 3, and the rebuilt Arabic categories hold 4 and 6 for their gifting terms.
The migration dip is on the chart because it happened: −18% for five weeks after the October 2024 cutover, recovered inside a quarter by the redirect map and schema parity. Gifting seasons — Eid, Diwali, the wedding run — now land on pages built for them, and “gold rate dubai” remains what it always was: somebody else’s 74,000 searches.
The gifting-season maths, in the open
AED 8,500/month retainer; 41 months of data. The arithmetic: 15,700 organic sessions × 1.9% ordinary-month conversion = 298 orders × AED 2,050 average order = ≈ AED 612,000 in an ordinary month. Gifting carries the year: four peak months (Eid, Diwali, the Dec–Feb wedding run) average ≈ AED 1,260,000, the other eight sit near the baseline, and the twelve-month average lands at AED 828,000 — the figure on the KPI card. That single average month covers the annual retainer (AED 8,500 × 12 = AED 102,000) about eight times over. Annualised, organic revenue runs ≈ AED 9.9M against AED 102,000 of retainer; we could print a bigger multiple, but the chain above is the more honest sentence.
06 · Where it got hard
What didn’t work — reported the same way
Honest file note 01
The migration dip was real, planned and published
The October 2024 Shopify Plus cutover cost 18% of organic sessions for five weeks. The 1,900-URL redirect map and the schema-parity work recovered most of it within a quarter, as the staging crawl predicted — but not on day one. We publish the dip because every replatform story without one is omitting something, and because “we chose the post-season trough” is only credible if you also show what the trough cost.
Honest file note 02
“gold rate dubai” will never be our keyword
74,000/mo, and the site has ranked #88–90 for it since 2023 without a single targeting decision. The intent is commodity news — rate trackers and finance pages — from readers who will never buy a bridal set. It sits in this table as a standing refusal, not an opportunity: the fastest way to ruin this engagement’s numbers would be hundreds of thousands of vanity sessions.
Honest file note 03
Our first Arabic pages were translations, and they failed
Arabic v1 (late 2023) mirrored the English category copy machine-assisted, and the categories sat at #30+ for four months while marketplace listings took the clicks. Noor S. rebuilt them natively around Gulf gifting vocabulary — Eid-first structure, “طقم زفاف” and occasion language ahead of carat specs — and the same URLs reached the top 6. Arabic jewelry intent is occasion-led, not specification-led; we learned it in public.
07 · The client’s words
“We cut over in October because the calendar said it was the least-bad month, and we published the dip to our own board the week it happened. Three years on, organic is a third of online revenue and the gifting hubs carry Eid and Diwali without paid support. Sara’s dashboard is the first tab I open on the first of every month.”
